Exeter Restaurant, Devon Restaurants, Eating Out Exeter, Fine Dining Pub Devon – Jack in the Green | The Jack in the Green

It has been another glorious day today with little done as we were eating out at the Jack in the Green. I had been there for Christmas dinner when I was working as a literacy consultant and it was good then. It has since gone on to greatness so we decided to give it a try. We were welcomed as soon as we had entered the pub, always a good sign, and having explained that we had a table booked for lunch were shown to some armchairs, given the menu and asked what we would like to drink. They are the sort of touches that many restaurants forget, they don’t cost anything but they make you feel special. Hyw had a goats cheese starter and I had a smoked salmon and prawn affair. To follow Hyw had steak and I had lamb cooked 3 ways and it was to die for. Good size portions and well cooked vegetables. We finished with expresso coffees and chocolates (fudge, macaroon, jelly and chocolate bomb) and with the drinks it came to £85 – not cheap but we chose the more expensive options. I forgot the homemade bread, it was delicious!
Verity wants me to include more pictures so I’ll finish for now and hunt some out.

  1. Mmm, you’ve made me hungry now and it’s 00:49 so I probably shouldn’t go searching for snacks. Your current iPad signature makes you look a bit pompous. “from the iPad of …” I usually have Gwilym James iPhone mail, thus explaining why I make so many typos.
