Heading North Again

The weather was much kinder to us today so we started the day with a walk along the sands at Arromanches. My headlight cover had come off in the rain so I improvised some with some blue masking tape, I don’t know if its legal but they don’t seem to sell them anywhere. First stop today was Cerisy for a coffee then on to visit the Chateau at Balleroy. Lots of photos taken, if only to prove how warm and sunny it was. The castle is very beautiful but we didn’t go in for a guided tour as we would have had to wait 2 hours for the next one! The grounds are lovely though and we were able to visit the balloon museum and the huge dovecot.

We decided to stop in St Lo for a salad lunch and sat with everyone else in the sunshine. I had a Gesiers and smoked Duck salad which was delicious. On then to Coutances for a walk around the town and visit to the Cathedral and another church, both of which were pretty impressive. By now we were getting pretty tired so after a reviving coffee we decided to head straight for Briquebec.

The Chateau is as good as ever and Hyw had booked a big room for us. I can’t wait for supper! We had a good explore of the town and it doesn’t seem to have suffered as much as as some of the towns we have passed through. It is looking very neat and tidy.
