Here we are, back in Nice again after a break of 6 years! It doesn’t change at all, even down to the roadworks! The tram network seems to be finished but they are now digging up and replanting the gardens leading to Place Garibaldi and the Museum of Modern Art so its still a work in progress. Garibaldi is much improved and the buildings have all had a fresh lick of paint so it looks very smart and uniform.
We had a good journey to Bath, where we stayed overnight, to make a hellishly early start for the airport. We in fact got up at 3 am as my fellow travellers couldn’t sleep too well, I slept like a log! We got to the airport in good time, enjoyed a coffee and pain au raisins and then it was time for our flight. It is a little overcast down here but the air is very warm and much warmer than England.
We took a stroll through the old town, stopping for lunch on the way, I had a salad of gesiers and duck, my favourite, and completed the circuit around to the port. We all fell asleep once we had returned to the flat but staggered out at 8.30 for a light meal at Le Lunel, in the port. Mum had mussels and Verity and I had turkey, me in a mushroom sauce and Vee in a cream sauce. I also had a delicious Tiramisui. We walked all around the port before going back to the flat, it was as balmy as anything, certainly a good start to the holiday.
