we enjoyed our short break here so much that we have come for a second time. Curiously the Eurovision Song Contest is on the TV, which we last saw in Copenhagen.
The cat is at Lapford Lodge, her first time away from home, and is listening to radio 2, so we shall have to get her back into radio 3 mode on her return. Enough of that or I shall get morbid. We had a good run up to Bristol, I’m always terrified that we shall miss our flight after our abortive visit to Berlin, but we had loads of time and stopped off for some toast and coffee at the Holiday Inn. We checked in ok, another thing I was sort of dreading as Hyw had lost his passport earlier this year and I would not believe it was ok until we actually had our boarding cards. After that it was plain sailing, Except we were flying!
The KLM flight was very quick and we made a speedy transfer to central station where we bought our tram tickets and made a quick journey to Hotel De Filosoof on the number 1 tram. We just had time to dump our bags and freshen up and then we went out to find a meal. We found a good little place off the Liedseplein that did traditional Dutch cooking. I had pickled herring to start and pork chop in an interesting sauce with chicory and boiled potatoes. We walked back afterwards via the seafood restaurant and booked a table for tomorrow lunch time. It was absolutely packed – I can’t wait. We walked home via the Vondel Park, had a randy and so to bed.
